TN31 Parka Pattern

TN31 is a relaxed and versatile interpretation of the classic fishtail parka. Lined or unlined it can work for all seasons. It has side pockets, front welt pockets, a back vent and optional drawstring waist. 

Skill Level: Advanced

This is a multi-size paper pattern in an envelope, including sizes 6 – 18. Seam allowances are 1.5cm and are included in the pattern. All seam allowances are 1.5cm unless otherwise stated. Neck has 1cm seam allowance.

Recommended Fabric

Dry Oilskin, Oilskin (lined version only), Tweed, Woollens, Cotton Drill, Cotton Canvas, Waterproofed Cottons and Linens. Using something like oilskin will ensure it keeps it structural shape, but we think it would look equally good in something more slinky like a Tencel Twill.

For the ribbing neckline, it is recommended to use rib that stretches by half again, i.e. 10cm pieces stretches to 15cm. 

For the lining, it is recommended to use fabrics such as brushed cotton, cotton poplin, or a medium weight slip lining in viscose or acetate.

Materials Needed:

• 6 x buttons,  approximately 17-22mm (M&M recommends Corozo buttons)
• 4 yards of drawstring cord
• Matching Thread

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS: Unlined Parka

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS: Unlined Parka Lining, i.e. pockets and drawstring casing.  *the drawstring casing will not fit across the fabric for these sizes, to use less lining fabric add a seam to the centre back of the casing.
